Day Seven - Graduation

For those of you that follow along, you will realize that last year we came over for Madeleine's graduation.  Between booking that holiday in December and last June things happened. She fixed it in the fall, and now we're here.

As with all graduations, there is a lot of motion and a lot of sitting.  Here is the view from our seats.

I had one job, capture Madeleine graduating. Here she is just out of the photo to the left.

Here she is behind the gentleman in black being tapped on the head by the cap signifying the moment she is a graduate.

And here she is exiting the stage. I believe we are buying the professional photos.

When the ceremony is over, the faculty and graduates march out behind bagpipes and circle the quad three times. Of course we're still in the hall when that happens.  This is a photo from the afternoon graduation.

Next is a garden party for that day's graduates.

The next day, Michael Palin was receiving an honorary Doctorate of Geography.  He gave a talk at 5:00 titled, "Why Geography Matters." The parts I was awake for were excellent. Most of you know what happens to me when you put me in a warm room in the afternoon and dim the lights. It wasn't Mr. Palin's fault. Here's another quality photo.

Then it was out to dinner with Heather and. Jack, and, Emily and her parents. And to cap the evening, we had drinks at the bar at the Old Course Hotel.

One child graduated. A great success.
