A Small Crowded Place - 8/4

We had a slow start today with a rest by the pool. Then, we loaded into the car and went to San Gimignano for lunch.

It is a very picturesque town that has 12 of its initial 72 towers still standing. It is easy to get to from Siena and Florence, so it is packed with people.

We circled for parking for half an hour then went got out and went through the gates. The main streets are lined with shops. They had a market going on. Did I mention that it was crowded? It was hot, too.

When we could, we would duck down side streets where there was a breeze.

Occasionally, you find a view when you go beyond the walls.

We made it to the town square and found a place for lunch. As we ate lunch, I heard a noise that sounded like a very strong breeze. If you look carefully in the background you will see it is actually the Bucher City Cat 2020. This guy took 15 laps to pick up 8 pieces of paper at lunchtime in a crowded square.

More scenery on the way out.

We went back to the villa. Cathie and the girlies swam in the pool. I read my New Yorker and we relaxed.

Thursday night is dinner night at the villa and we had a very nice time drinking the wine they make there, eating a Tuscan meal and visiting with people we met.

It was a late night. It has to be to eat that much food. Tomorrow, we head into Siena and say good by to the rental car.
